Orin Swift Cellars

About: The history of Orin Swift Cellars dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. A few more years of university led to graduation and eventually a job at Robert Mondavi Winery in 1997 as a temporary harvest worker. Deciding that if he was going to work this hard, it would eventually have to be for himself, he founded Orin Swift Cellars in 1998; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name. With two tons of zinfandel and not much else, he spent the next decade making wine for others as well as himself and grew the brand to what it is today.

Wine Curator: Janine Sacco is one of the rising stars of Connecticut’s wine scene.  After working in some of New York and Connecticut’s more storied restaurants [Eleven Madison Park, Gotham Bar and Grill, Jean-Georges, Union League Café, etc], she made her formal entry into the world of fine wine as the Wine Director of The Wine Thief in New Haven. She is an advanced sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, a diploma candidate with the international testing body WSET, and a certified specialist in both spirits and sake. Currently she works for Skurnik Wine and Spirits as a sales representative.

Wine Specials: For the month of May enjoy special priced selections of Skurnik Wines at $44 for bottles or $14 by the glass. Specials start at 5pm and are valid for select varieties only.

About: Jonathan Edwards Winery was created from the simplest concepts - make great wine and enjoy life more often. As New Englanders, the families early focus was on the emerging wine industry of the North East; the commitment to making the best wines possible naturally expanded and in 1999 led them to beautiful Napa Valley, and in 2000 a first harvest. As grapes were crushed and young wine fermented, the reality of Jonathan Edwards Winery truly began to take shape. Producing some of the best wines where each bottle has its own story.
